IKT ENJOYED HEAVY EQUIPMENT THROUGHPUT INCREASE AS MINING SECTOR BOOMING

Indonesia Kendaraan Terminal (IKT/IPCC) enjoyed a fantastic increase in throughput of heavy equipment last year (2021), thanks to the booming of domestic mining activities that triggered the high sale of heavy equipment.

In today’s press statement, IKT explained that in 2021, this terminal enjoyed 180.13% increase in import of truck, bus, and heavy equipment, reaching 10,023 units, from 5,440 in previous year (2020).

But, IKT suffered a drop in export throughput of truck, bus, and heavy equipment, by 13.35% year on year.

Of this, heavy equipment grew up both in export and import. The export of heavy equipment during the year reached 2,851 units, increasing 56.65% y-o-y, from 1,820 units in 2020. The import of heavy equipment grew up higher, by 145.79%, to 6,747 units, from 2,745 units in 2020.

“Majority of the heavy equipment handled by IKT are excavators. But, there are a number of wheel loaders and bulldozers which are usually used in the mining industry,” IKT said in a press statement, today, Thursday, January 20, 2022.

IKT also enjoyed throughput increase of import truck/bus. In 2021, IKT handled as many as 3,278 units of import truck/bus, increasing 293.52% y-o-y.

IKT suffered a throughput drop in export of truck/bus, by 41.88%, from 4,458 units (2020) to 2,591 units (2021), mostly were dump truck to carry coal and mineral products.

IKT also enjoyed domestic throughput increase of heavy equipment and truck/bus. IKT handled 7,085 units of heavy equipment of domestic market, a 91.38% increase y-o-y. But, IKT suffered truck/bus throughput in domestic market, by 46.25%, to 28,579 units.

“There is evidence to say that booming in mining activities have triggered the demand of heavy equipment like excavators, wheel loaders, and bulldozers,” IKT said.
