Shaping a Circular Economy and National Self-Reliance by Processing Plastic Waste

Jakarta, June 15, 2026. Amidst the escalating challenges of plastic waste management—a pressing global environmental issue—the continued accumulation and underutilization of plastic waste remain a serious concern for various stakeholders. Beyond the potential for environmental pollution, the accumulation of plastic waste can disrupt terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems and diminish the community's quality of life if not managed responsibly. This situation necessitates a more innovative approach to waste management—one that goes beyond mere waste reduction to create economic value and social benefits for the community. As part of its commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and sustainable development, PT Indonesia Kendaraan Terminal Tbk (IDX: IPCC) has collaborated with Rappo Indonesia to transform plastic bag waste into high-value products. This program champions the circular economy concept by converting plastic waste into marketable, functional, and economically valuable souvenir products. This initiative delivers tangible environmental benefits while creating income-generating opportunities for the community—specifically for the 16 women (in Makassar and Depok) who have been empowered through this program. Through this plastic waste management collaboration, 19.05 kilograms of plastic waste—equivalent to approximately 1,732 used plastic bags—were successfully processed into various functional, high-value items. The output includes 100 laptop bags, 40 card holders, journals, and reusable bags; these products not only offer high utility but also symbolize the transformation of waste into goods that support a sustainable lifestyle.

Through this approach, the IPCC not only contributes to reducing the volume of plastic waste ending up in landfills but also fosters collective awareness regarding the importance of responsible waste management. This initiative is part of the Company's efforts to generate sustainable impact through the "Creating Shared Value" (CSV) principle, where the success of environmental programs goes hand-in-hand with strengthening community capacity and economic self-reliance. Beyond mere waste management, the program embodies circular economy principles by promoting material reuse, extending product lifecycles, and creating shared value for both the environment and the community in a sustainable manner. The initiative demonstrates that plastic waste—often a source of environmental pollution—can be transformed into a resource that delivers economic benefits while simultaneously alleviating the environmental burden.

Rappo Indonesia was born from a passion to transform waste into valuable products while creating economic opportunities for the community. Originating from waste management and circular economy initiatives, Rappo now collaborates with various companies, communities, and institutions to provide impactful, eco-friendly merchandise and gift hampers. We hope this collaboration with PT Indonesia Kendaraan Terminal Tbk marks the beginning of a broader partnership aimed at generating benefits for the environment, society, and future generations. "We extend our gratitude to PT Indonesia Kendaraan Terminal Tbk for trusting Rappo products to be part of their corporate activities. To us, each piece of merchandise is more than just a product; it is a medium for conveying values, care, and positive impact to the community and the environment. This collaboration demonstrates the vital role the business sector plays in driving more responsible and sustainable business practices," said Akmal Idrus, Founder and CEO of Rappo Indonesia.

The approach adopted by IPCC and Rappo goes beyond mere waste reduction; it focuses on transforming waste into value-added resources. Processing plastic waste into economically valuable products creates a cycle of benefits that strengthens environmental awareness, enhances community capacity, and supports the development of a more inclusive and sustainable circular economy. "This program reflects IPCC’s commitment to continuously creating long-term value through collaboration and innovation. We hope this initiative will serve as a catalyst for a collective movement toward responsible environmental management, ensuring that business success aligns with the creation of a more self-reliant community and a more sustainable environment," concluded Endah Dwi Liesly, Corporate Secretary of IPCC.
